Aşağıdaki simülasyon, frekans analizinin çekirdeğini canlı gösterir: sentetik günlük akımdan her yılın en büyük değeri (blok maksimumu) seçilir, histograma düşer ve L-momentlerle GEV dağılımı yeniden kurulur. Kayıt uzadıkça Q100 tahmininin nasıl oturduğunu izleyin. The simulation below shows the core of frequency analysis live: from synthetic daily flow, each year's largest value (block maximum) is picked, drops into the histogram, and a GEV is refitted by L-moments. Watch how the Q100 estimate settles as the record grows.

Parametreler veriden tahmin edildiğinde klasik KS/AD tabloları geçersizdir (Laio, 2004). Burada p-değeri, kurulan modelden B örnek üretip her birinde parametreleri yeniden tahmin eden parametrik bootstrap ile bulunur. When parameters are estimated from the data, classical KS/AD tables are invalid (Laio, 2004). Here p-values come from a parametric bootstrap that simulates B samples from the fitted model and re-estimates parameters in each.

Each parameter of the recommended model is perturbed by ±% one at a time; the change in QT is shown. For location parameters (including log-space means) a percentage has no scale-free meaning, so the perturbation is applied relative to the spread (scale) parameter: Δ = ±%·scale.

1. Analiz akışı
Veri → kalite kontrol → seri türü (yıllık maksimum/minimum, 7 günlük minimum, hazır seri, POT) → aday dağılımlar → parametre tahmini (MLE, L-moment, MM) → uyum ölçütleri → kuyruk analizi → dönüş seviyeleri → bootstrap belirsizliği → yapı ömrü riski → rapor. Tüm hesaplar tarayıcıda, yüklenen veriden çalışma anında yapılır; hiçbir sonuç önceden yazılmış değildir.
2. Dağılımlar ve parametreleri
| Dağılım | F(x) veya x(F) | Parametreler | Tipik kullanım |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | Φ((x−μ)/σ) | μ, σ>0 | simetrik referans |
| Lognormal 2P | Φ((ln x−μy)/σy) | μy, σy | pozitif çarpık seriler |
| Lognormal 3P | Φ((ln(x−ζ)−μy)/σy) | ζ alt sınır, μy, σy | eşikli pozitif seri |
| Gamma 2P | P(α, x/β) | α şekil, β ölçek | yağış, debi |
| Pearson III | X = ξ + β·G, G~Gamma(α,1) | ξ, β (işaretli), α | hidrolojik frekans (Gamma 3P ile aynı aile) |
| Log-Pearson III | ln X ~ Pearson III | ln-uzayında ξ, β, α | yıllık taşkın pikleri (Bulletin 17C ailesi) |
| Weibull 2P / 3P | 1−exp[−((x−ζ)/β)δ] | ζ, β, δ | düşük akım, rüzgâr |
| Gumbel (EV1) | exp[−exp(−(x−ξ)/α)] | ξ, α | yıllık maksimum |
| GEV | exp[−(1+ξ(x−μ)/σ)−1/ξ] | μ, σ, ξ (ξ>0 ağır kuyruk) | blok maksimumları |
| Üstel 2P | 1−exp(−(x−ξ)/α) | ξ, α | referans / POT |
| Lojistik | 1/(1+e−(x−μ)/s) | μ, s | alternatif simetrik |
| Gen. lojistik (GLO) | 1/(1+(1+ξz)−1/ξ) | μ, σ, ξ | bölgesel analiz adayı |
| Gen. Pareto (GPA) | 1−(1+ξ(x−u)/σ)−1/ξ | u, σ, ξ | eşik üstü aşımlar |
Şekil parametresi ξ, Coles (2001) işaretiyle verilir: ξ>0 ağır (üstten sınırsız) kuyruk, ξ<0 üstten sınırlı kuyruktur. Hosking'in k parametresi k = −ξ'dir. GEV blok maksimumlarına, GPD eşik üstü aşımlara uygulanır; bu ayrım POT stüdyosunda ayrı bir iş akışıyla korunur.
Weibull 3P, −X'e GEV kurularak elde edilir.
Momentler yöntemi (MM): ortalama, standart sapma (n−1) ve yanlılık düzeltmeli çarpıklık G1 = n/((n−1)(n−2)) Σ((x−x̄)/s)3 eşitlenir. GEV, Weibull, LN3 ve GPA'da şekil parametresi çarpıklık denkleminden ikiye bölme ile çözülür; çarpıklık dağılımın izin verdiği aralık dışındaysa yöntem "uygulanamaz" döner. GLO için kapalı MM kullanılmaz. Log-Pearson III için MM, ln x'in momentlerine uygulanır (istasyon çarpıklığı; Bulletin 17C'deki EMA, bölgesel çarpıklık ağırlıklandırması ve çoklu Grubbs–Beck testi bu sürümde uygulanmamıştır).
4. Bilgi kriterleri
Tüm olabilirlikler x uzayında hesaplanır (LN2 ve LP3 için Jacobian −ln x dahil), böylece dağılımlar arası karşılaştırma tutarlıdır. AICc kısa hidrolojik serilerde önerilir. Akaike ağırlıkları wi = exp(−Δi/2)/Σexp(−Δj/2) gösterilir.
5. Uyum iyiliği testleri
ui = F(x(i); θ̂). Parametreler veriden tahmin edildiği için p-değeri parametrik bootstrap ile bulunur: θ̂ ile B örnek üretilir, her örnekte θ aynı yöntemle yeniden tahmin edilir ve istatistik yeniden hesaplanır; p = (1 + #{T*b ≥ Tobs})/(B+1). Anderson–Darling kuyruklara daha duyarlıdır (Laio, 2004).
6. Grafiksel ve kuyruk ölçütleri
Çizim konumları: Weibull i/(n+1), Cunnane (i−0,4)/(n+0,2), Gringorten (i−0,44)/(n+0,12), Hazen (i−0,5)/n. PPCC, sıralı gözlemlerle model kuantilleri arasındaki korelasyondur. Q-Q nRMSE = √(ortalama (x(i) − x̂i)²)/x̄. Üst (alt) kuyruk hatası aynı formülün en büyük (en küçük) m = max(3, ⌈0,1n⌉) gözleme uygulanmasıdır.
7. Karar destek skoru
9. Yapı ömrü riski
Yıllar arası bağımsızlık ve durağanlık varsayılır. Örnek: T = 100, N = 50 → R ≈ 0,395.
10. Veri kalite kontrolü
Eksik/sayısal olmayan değerler, tekrarlanan tarihler, negatif ve sıfır değerler (log tabanlı dağılımlar için), IQR aykırı değerleri (Q1 − 3·IQR, Q3 + 3·IQR), Grubbs–Beck (1972) düşük/yüksek aykırı eşikleri log10 uzayında KN = −0,9043 + 3,345√(log n) − 0,4046 log n yaklaşımıyla (Bulletin 17B, %10 düzeyi; 10 ≤ n ≤ 149), Mann–Kendall trend testi (bağ düzeltmeli), Sen eğimi ve gecikme-1 otokorelasyonu (|r1| > 2/√n ise bağımsızlık kuşkulu).
Veri kalite puanı = 0,4·tamlık + 0,3·uzunluk + 0,3·varsayım. Tamlık = 100·(1 − eksik oranı); uzunluk = min(100, 100·n/50); varsayım = MK p > 0,05 ve |r1| ≤ 2/√n ise 100, biri sağlanmazsa 50, ikisi de sağlanmazsa 0. Aykırı değerler otomatik silinmez; yalnızca işaretlenir.
11. Durağan olmayan GEV
μ(t) = β0 + β1t, isteğe bağlı ln σ(t) = γ0 + γ1t, ξ sabit; t = (yıl − ortalama yıl)/10. MLE ile kurulur. Olabilirlik oranı D = 2(ℓNS − ℓS) ~ χ²df ile durağan modelle karşılaştırılır (Coles, 2001). Etkin dönüş seviyesi, her yıl için o yılın parametreleriyle hesaplanır.
12. POT – GPD
13. Bölgesel L-moment analizi
Uyumsuzluk Di = (N/3)(ui − ū)TA−1(ui − ū), ui = (τ, τ3, τ4); kritik değerler N = 5…14 için Hosking & Wallis (1997) tablosundan, N ≥ 15 için 3. Bölgesel ortalama L-moment oranları kayıt uzunluğuyla ağırlıklıdır. V = [Σni(τ(i) − τR)²/Σni]1/2 gözlenen L-CV yayılımıdır; heterojenlik ölçüsü H (kappa simülasyonu gerektirir) bu sürümde hesaplanmaz. Oran diyagramında GEV, GLO, GPA eğrileri tam formüllerle; GNO (LN3) ve PE3 eğrileri Hosking & Wallis (1997) polinom yaklaşımlarıyla çizilir (sayısal integrasyonla doğrulanmıştır). Büyüme eğrisi, bölgesel oranlarla λ1 = 1 alınarak kurulur; istasyon kuantili = indeks (istasyon ortalaması) × büyüme faktörü.
14. Sınırlamalar
Sonuçlar yıllar arası bağımsızlık ve (durağan modellerde) durağanlık varsayar. Tarihsel/sansürlü veri, EMA ve bölgesel çarpıklık desteklenmez. Kısa kayıtlarda uzun dönüş periyotlu kuantiller büyük belirsizlik taşır. Yazılım bir mühendislik kararının yerine geçmez; resmi tasarımlarda ilgili kurum yönetmelikleri esas alınmalıdır.
1. Workflow
Data → quality control → series type (annual maximum/minimum, 7-day minimum, ready series, POT) → candidate distributions → parameter estimation (MLE, L-moments, MM) → goodness-of-fit → tail analysis → return levels → bootstrap uncertainty → design-life risk → report. Everything is computed in the browser from the loaded data at run time; no result is pre-written.
2. Distributions and parameters
| Distribution | F(x) or x(F) | Parameters | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | Φ((x−μ)/σ) | μ, σ>0 | symmetric reference |
| Lognormal 2P | Φ((ln x−μy)/σy) | μy, σy | positively skewed series |
| Lognormal 3P | Φ((ln(x−ζ)−μy)/σy) | ζ lower bound, μy, σy | bounded positive series |
| Gamma 2P | P(α, x/β) | α shape, β scale | rainfall, flow |
| Pearson III | X = ξ + β·G, G~Gamma(α,1) | ξ, β (signed), α | hydrologic frequency (same family as Gamma 3P) |
| Log-Pearson III | ln X ~ Pearson III | ξ, β, α in ln-space | annual flood peaks (Bulletin 17C family) |
| Weibull 2P / 3P | 1−exp[−((x−ζ)/β)δ] | ζ, β, δ | low flow, wind |
| Gumbel (EV1) | exp[−exp(−(x−ξ)/α)] | ξ, α | annual maxima |
| GEV | exp[−(1+ξ(x−μ)/σ)−1/ξ] | μ, σ, ξ (ξ>0 heavy tail) | block maxima |
| Exponential 2P | 1−exp(−(x−ξ)/α) | ξ, α | reference / POT |
| Logistic | 1/(1+e−(x−μ)/s) | μ, s | alternative symmetric |
| Gen. logistic (GLO) | 1/(1+(1+ξz)−1/ξ) | μ, σ, ξ | regional candidate |
| Gen. Pareto (GPA) | 1−(1+ξ(x−u)/σ)−1/ξ | u, σ, ξ | threshold exceedances |
The shape ξ follows the Coles (2001) sign convention: ξ>0 heavy (unbounded) upper tail, ξ<0 bounded upper tail. Hosking's k equals −ξ. GEV applies to block maxima and GPD to threshold exceedances; the POT studio keeps that separation as its own workflow.
3. Parameter estimation
MLE: ℓ(θ) = Σ ln f(xi; θ) is maximised by Nelder–Mead (1965), started from the L-moment and MM estimates with log-transformed scale parameters. Closed forms are used for Normal, Lognormal 2P and Exponential 2P; Lognormal 3P uses the profile likelihood in ζ. For threshold-type parameters (LN3, Weibull 3P, PE3, GPA) the likelihood is non-regular at the boundary; if the bound approaches the sample minimum the fit is flagged as a boundary solution. For GEV/GLO/GPA ξ is kept in (−0.95, 0.95) and |ξ| > 0.5 triggers a warning.
L-moments (Hosking, 1990): sample L-moments come from unbiased probability-weighted moments b0…b3: λ1=b0, λ2=2b1−b0, λ3=6b2−6b1+b0, λ4=20b3−30b2+12b1−b0. GEV k is solved exactly from τ3 = 2(1−3−k)/(1−2−k) − 3; Gamma 2P from L-CV = Γ(α+½)/(√π Γ(α+1)). Pearson III and Lognormal 3P use the Hosking & Wallis (1997) rational approximations; closed forms are used for GLO, GPA, Gumbel, Exponential, Logistic and Weibull. Weibull 3P is obtained by fitting a GEV to −X.
Method of moments: mean, standard deviation (n−1) and bias-corrected skewness G1 = n/((n−1)(n−2)) Σ((x−x̄)/s)3 are matched. For GEV, Weibull, LN3 and GPA the shape is solved from the skewness equation by bisection; if the skewness lies outside the admissible range the method returns "not applicable". No closed-form MM is used for GLO. For Log-Pearson III, MM is applied to the moments of ln x (station skew; the EMA, regional-skew weighting and multiple Grubbs–Beck test of Bulletin 17C are not implemented in this version).
4. Information criteria
All likelihoods are evaluated in x-space (including the −ln x Jacobian for LN2 and LP3), so comparisons across distributions are consistent. AICc is recommended for short hydrological records. Akaike weights wi = exp(−Δi/2)/Σexp(−Δj/2) are reported. Information criteria are meaningful for MLE; L-moment/MM fits are not ranked by AIC (Laio et al., 2009).
5. Goodness-of-fit tests
ui = F(x(i); θ̂). Because parameters are estimated from the data, p-values come from a parametric bootstrap: B samples are drawn from θ̂, θ is re-estimated with the same method in each and the statistic recomputed; p = (1 + #{T*b ≥ Tobs})/(B+1). Anderson–Darling is more sensitive to the tails (Laio, 2004).
6. Graphical and tail criteria
Plotting positions: Weibull i/(n+1), Cunnane (i−0.4)/(n+0.2), Gringorten (i−0.44)/(n+0.12), Hazen (i−0.5)/n. PPCC is the correlation between ordered observations and model quantiles. Q-Q nRMSE = √(mean (x(i) − x̂i)²)/x̄. Upper (lower) tail error is the same formula applied to the largest (smallest) m = max(3, ⌈0.1n⌉) observations.
7. Decision-support score
Each criterion v is rescaled across candidates to s = (worst − v)/(worst − best) ∈ [0,1]; the score is Σw·s/Σw. Presets: flood (AICc 0.25; AD 0.20; upper tail 0.20; CvM 0.15; KS 0.10; Q-Q 0.10), low flow (lower tail instead of upper), general. The score is a transparent decision-support indicator, not a statistical test, and the weights are user-adjustable.
8. Return period and uncertainty
Confidence intervals use the parametric-bootstrap percentile method (Efron & Tibshirani, 1993): B samples, refitting with the same method, α/2 and 1−α/2 percentiles of xT*. The interval covers sampling uncertainty only, not model (distribution-choice) uncertainty — use the Parameter lab and Simulation lab for that.
Extrapolation warning (heuristic): T ≤ n low, n < T ≤ 2n moderate, 2n < T ≤ 4n high, T > 4n very high. These thresholds are a practical rule of thumb, not a standard.
9. Design-life risk
Independence between years and stationarity are assumed. Example: T = 100, N = 50 → R ≈ 0.395.
10. Data quality control
Missing/non-numeric values, duplicated dates, negative and zero values (for log-based distributions), IQR outliers (Q1 − 3·IQR, Q3 + 3·IQR), Grubbs–Beck (1972) low/high outlier thresholds in log10 space with KN = −0.9043 + 3.345√(log n) − 0.4046 log n (Bulletin 17B, 10% level; 10 ≤ n ≤ 149), Mann–Kendall trend test (tie-corrected), Sen's slope and lag-1 autocorrelation (independence doubtful if |r1| > 2/√n).
Data quality score = 0.4·completeness + 0.3·length + 0.3·assumptions. Completeness = 100·(1 − missing fraction); length = min(100, 100·n/50); assumptions = 100 if MK p > 0.05 and |r1| ≤ 2/√n, 50 if one fails, 0 if both fail. Outliers are flagged, never deleted automatically.
11. Nonstationary GEV
μ(t) = β0 + β1t, optionally ln σ(t) = γ0 + γ1t, constant ξ; t = (year − mean year)/10. Fitted by MLE and compared with the stationary model by the likelihood ratio D = 2(ℓNS − ℓS) ~ χ²df (Coles, 2001). Effective return levels use each year's parameters.
12. POT – GPD
Exceedances of u are grouped into clusters separated by gaps longer than r days (runs declustering) and each cluster maximum is kept. A two-parameter GPD is fitted to y = x − u (MLE; L-moments: k = λ1/λ2 − 2, σ = (1+k)λ1; MM). λ = peaks per year of record. Return level xT = u + σ/ξ[(λT)ξ − 1] (ξ→0: u + σ ln(λT)). Threshold choice is supported by the mean residual life plot (linear in u when the GPD holds) and the parameter stability plot (ξ and σ* = σ − ξu should be constant) (Davison & Smith, 1990; Coles, 2001).
13. Regional L-moment analysis
Discordancy Di = (N/3)(ui − ū)TA−1(ui − ū), ui = (τ, τ3, τ4); critical values for N = 5…14 from Hosking & Wallis (1997), 3 for N ≥ 15. Regional average ratios are weighted by record length. V = [Σni(τ(i) − τR)²/Σni]1/2 is the observed L-CV dispersion; the heterogeneity measure H (which needs kappa simulations) is not computed in this version. On the ratio diagram GEV, GLO and GPA curves are exact; GNO (LN3) and PE3 curves use the Hosking & Wallis (1997) polynomial approximations (verified by numerical integration). The growth curve is fitted to the regional ratios with λ1 = 1; at-site quantile = index (site mean) × growth factor.
14. Limitations
Results assume independence between years and (for stationary models) stationarity. Historical/censored data, EMA and regional skew are not supported. Long-return-period quantiles from short records carry large uncertainty. The software does not replace engineering judgement; official designs must follow the applicable agency regulations.

Site nasıl çalışır?How the site works
- Dağılım bulucu: Tahmin yöntemini (MLE, L-moment, MM), çizim konumu formülünü ve ağırlık ön ayarını seçip “Analizi çalıştır”a basın.
5. Kaynak kodu yerelde çalıştırma
İndirilen ZIP'i açın. En basit yol dist/index.html dosyasını tarayıcıda açmaktır (internet yoksa vendor/ klasöründeki Plotly ve SheetJS kopyaları kullanılır). Geliştirme için: npm install, testler için npm test, yeniden derlemek için npm run build. Sunucuda yayın için Dockerfile (nginx) hazırdır: docker build -t dfh . && docker run -p 8080:80 dfh.
1. Overall flow
The site is a single browser application: every computation runs on your computer in JavaScript. Your data are never sent to a server. The suggested workflow follows the staff-gauge menu on the left from top to bottom; the water level in the gauge shows your progress.
- Data studio: upload Excel/CSV, type values into the table, or paste from Excel. For daily data choose the series type (annual maximum, annual minimum, 7-day minimum) and the water-year start. The QC panel flags missing data, record length, trend (Mann–Kendall), autocorrelation and outliers (Grubbs–Beck) with 🟢🟡🔴.
- Distribution finder: choose the estimation method (MLE, L-moments, MM), plotting position and weight preset, then press “Run analysis”. 14 distributions are fitted; AICc, BIC, KS, CvM, AD, PPCC and tail errors are computed and ranked by a weighted score.
- Parameter lab: compares parameters from the three methods and the resulting QT for a chosen T.
- GOF lab: correct KS/CvM/AD p-values by parametric bootstrap (parameters re-estimated in each sample).
- Return period: Q2–Q1000 table, return-level curve, bootstrap confidence interval, extrapolation warning and parameter sensitivity (tornado).
- Design risk: R = 1 − (1 − 1/T)N calculator, design period from acceptable risk, and a risk heat map.
- Advanced modules: stability lab (QT in sub-periods), nonstationary GEV, POT–GPD, regional L-moment analysis, Monte Carlo model-selection experiment.
- Report: save results as Excel, CSV, HTML (print to PDF) or a project file (JSON) that you can load again later.
2. Data formats
Ready series: one year (or event) and one value per row, e.g. 1971 ; 412.5. A single value column is also accepted (row order is used; trend and nonstationary analyses then use order instead of years).
Daily series: date + value. Date formats: 2024-03-15, 15.03.2024, 15/03/2024 or an Excel date cell. When extracting annual maxima/minima from daily data, years with more than 20% missing days are excluded and reported in the QC panel.
Excel template: the “Download Excel template” button produces a workbook with Data (Date, Station_ID, Variable, Value, Unit, QC_Flag), Regional (Station_ID, Year, Value), Settings, Metadata, Methods and a formula-driven ReturnPeriods sheet. Rows whose QC_Flag is “X” or “BAD” are skipped.
Decimal separator: dot or comma; do not use thousands separators. Negative values are accepted, but positive-support distributions (LN2, Gamma, LP3, Weibull 2P) are then excluded automatically.
3. Reading the results
The score normalises each selected criterion to 0–1 across candidates and weights them; the same data and settings always give the same result. It is decision support: if the gap between the first and second model is small (e.g. ΔAICc < 2), both are plausible and their QT differences should be reported as part of the uncertainty.
A model is rejected when its bootstrap p-value is below α. The extrapolation warning uses T relative to record length: T ≤ n low, ≤ 2n moderate, ≤ 4n high, > 4n very high uncertainty.
Warning badges: boundary the threshold parameter hit the smallest observation; |ξ|>0.5 physically doubtful shape; support the fitted distribution does not cover all observations (excluded from ranking).
4. How computations run in the browser
The statistics engine (hydrofit.js) contains the gamma/normal special functions, CDF/PDF/inverse-CDF for 14 distributions, L-moment and moment solutions, MLE via Nelder–Mead and all tests. It passes 552 automated tests against SciPy 1.17 reference values (npm test). Long bootstrap and Monte Carlo jobs are split into small chunks so the page never freezes, the progress bar updates, and “Stop” interrupts the job. The random generator is seeded (mulberry32), so results are reproducible for the same settings.
Browser storage keeps only a short list of recent analyses (date, series, recommended model); use “Save project (JSON)” to keep your data.
5. Running the source locally
Unzip the download. The simplest way is to open dist/index.html in a browser (offline, the Plotly and SheetJS copies in vendor/ are used). For development: npm install, tests with npm test, rebuild with npm run build. A Dockerfile (nginx) is included for server hosting: docker build -t dfh . && docker run -p 8080:80 dfh.
6. Limitations
Bulletin 17C's EMA (expected moments algorithm), regional skew and the multiple Grubbs–Beck test are not implemented; LP3 is fitted by standard log-space MLE/L-moments/MM. The regional module does not compute the Hosking–Wallis H heterogeneity measure (which requires simulation); Di and the spread of L-CV are reported instead. Demo data are synthetic and do not represent a real station.
